As a family we have been blessed with the privilege of travel and enjoying the wonder of language, people, culture and history. These experiences have given us an awareness of significant needs that exist in developing countries for the basics of life, including the gift of education. After much thought about how we might contribute good to the world, we embarked upon our first humanitarian expedition.
In December 2003, my family and I traveled to Peru, carrying with us school supplies, soccer balls and the hope that we would learn and grow together while serving the children living at Casa de Milagros orphanage in Lamay. It was a remarkable experience, providing us with a new understanding of what matters most. It was the initial spark that would eventually become Laps for Learning.
